How can I keep my candles looking their best?

Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or intense light for long periods of time. Wax will begin to soften in temps above 80 degrees, so store in cool dry place.

What kind of wax do we use?

We use a soy blend wax. We have found that pure soy waxes do not give a great hot throw (the amount of scent given off when candle is burning). So we use a blend to give you candles that will spread the fragrance farther in your home.

Do I really need to trim the wick?

As a general rule, Yes. If you see little mushrooms (lumps or growths) on your wick then you should trim a cotton wick to ¼ inch. For a wood wick, if the flame is too tall then you should trim it to 1/8 inch.

What kind of wicks do you use?

We use a variety of cotton and wood wicks. The reason for different wicks is to provide you with a safe, and well burning candle that will give your home the best fragrance. If you see smoke or soot from your candle then the wick needs to be trimmed. Extinguish your candle, trim the wick and relight.

Why does my candle leave wax on the side of the container?

There are several reasons this could happen. One is the way the candle was made. We want to ensure you that is not the case with our candles. All of our candles have gone through rigorous testing to get the right combination of ingredients. If one of our candles is not melting all the wax on the sides, it is likely that the candle did not burn long enough on the previous burn(s). To get the longest burn time out of your candle you should burn the candle until the wax has melted to the edge of the container. As a general rule it is 1 hour per inch of diameter. All of our candle containers have a diameter of just over 3 inches that means you should burn you candles about 3 hours before putting it out. It is ok if you see a small amount of wax not melted at the edge, it will “catch up” on the next burn.

Do you ship every day of the week?

Yes and No. We are located in Texas and it gets HOT in the summer. So in the summer months we will ship Mon-Wed. The reason for this is so your candle will arrive without sitting in a hot warehouse or truck over the weekend. In cooler months we will ship Mon-Fri. In addition we recommend you have someone receive your order in the summer months so it is not sitting on your door step getting hot.

How long does it take to ship and receive my order?

We try to package within 24 hours of receiving your order. We will ship the next business day, with the exceptions listed in the question above.

What if an item is defective or damaged on arrival?

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. So contact us at info@honeybearhandcrafted.com and let us know we will respond with instructions.

What if I do not like the fragrance when it arrives? Can I return it?

Unfortunately, No. We do not offer exchanges for personal fragrance preferences. You can purchase wax melts to try a new fragrance.

What do I do with my container when the candle is gone?

You can clean it out and use it to store small items, in the case of the tin candles. For the glass tumbler you could put some flowers in it for decoration, place it on your desk for a pen holder, or put your makeup brushes in it. Whatever you can think of to reuse it except put more wax in for another candle. This is strictly for your safety. When glass is repeatedly heated and cooled it can become more fragile. Our glass has been tested for safety and we have not had any break with the use of our candles but we cannot guarantee it won’t if you reuse the glass for another candle.

Why do the instructions say to discontinue use when there is ½ inch of wax left in the container?

The reason it is recommended to discontinue use at this level is because of the heat from the flame being near the wick tab and the glass will become hotter at the bottom of the container.
